Water Street at Main Street

Please review traffic operations at Main Street, Water Street and West Water Street, particularly the left turn from Water onto Main. Residents report difficulty making that turn and delays for vehicles continuing straight. Please consider whether changes to signal timing or phasing, including a protected left turn or separate phases for the opposing approaches, could improve safety and traffic flow while maintaining pedestrian access.

Resident observations:
Cathy Chace: Identified the difficult left turn from Water onto Main.
Kelly Sullivan Girotti and Dawn Millward: Specifically suggested a left turn arrow.
Svetlana Rojevsky: Described conflicts with opposing through traffic and vehicles being held behind a waiting left turner.
Lizzie Pugatch: Reported congestion through the day and early evening, particularly at rush hour, and suggested separate signal phases for the opposing approaches.
Dennis Bogdan and Laine Paro: Dennis questioned Main Street signal timing and reported delays entering from side streets. Laine agreed with his Water Street concern.
